Should you take risks or shouldn’t you?

Allow me begin with the words of Carlos Wallace who said, “Why take risks? Because too much caution might cost you everything one day. Ironically, that’s a risk too!”

Taking risks can be very scary; though more for some people than others, but still it’s not a cup of tea. Yes it does have it’s numerous advantages but the thought of losing or call it fear of failure sure does keep many people where they are.

Well if you one of these people, this was written specifically for you.

The hard truth thou is taking risks doesn’t mean you will win every time you take the chance, Nope. Sometimes you’ll get kicked in the balls -that’s for sure. But not taking the chance however slim it is, could be much more fatal.

Ask yourself What happens if i don’t take the risk? and What could happen if i do take the risk?

Your answer will give you the way forward.

If you risk nothing, then you risk everything.

1.What happens if you don’t take the risk?

Here is the most logically answer, –You stay where you are. And once you are always choosing to stay where you are, you are never going to get ahead in life. You are going to stay stagnant!

Danny Wallace once said,”……maybe sometimes it’s riskier not to take a risk. Sometimes all you’re guaranteeing is that things will stay the same.

Is that what you really want for yourself? A life lived in mediocrity? Is that a life worth living to you?

Well, i agree with Tamer Alexander when he said,

A life lived without risks pretty much wasn’t a life worth living. Life rewarded courage, even when the first step was taken neck-deep in fear.”

Yes you might be scared of losing, we all are. But take courage, don’t let your fear of failure be greater than your love for winning.

Richard Branson continued, “If you opt for a safe life, you will never know what it’s like to win.”

And Morrissey said it best,” There’s no discovery in a safe life.”

My prayer for you is you don’t get to the end of your life and wish you had taken more risks and lived a fuller life than you did, because regret is a hard thing to live with, it might send you to an early grave.

You might never accomplish anything worthwhile in your life if you aren’t ready to take the necessary risks, for many a time you will be presented with an opportunity that could turn your life around but nothing is ever sure, you’ll need to take that chance to find out whether or not it will.

Wherever there’s danger, there lurks opportunity; wherever there’s opportunity, there lurks danger. The two are inseparable.

Earl Nightingale

2.What could happen if you take the risk?

Think of everything you have to gain if you do take the chance. Your dreams could come true, if you took a chance at them. You could live an amazing life, only if you took the chance to build one. If you took a chance at love, you could find the love of your life and live happily ever after and so much more. That’s on the bright side.

On the dark side, you could lose everything. Maybe in your business, you could lose money, if you took a chance at love, you could get your heart broken. If you risked your money, you could run broke. That’s there to think about too.

But at the end of the day, the big question is ,” How bad do you want to get ahead in life?” or Would rather stay where you are?

Here i would love to bring to your attention the words of Chuck Yeager, he said, “You don’t concentrate on the risk, you concentrate on the results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done.”

Take risks If you win, you'll be happy. If you lose, you'll be wise.

Rick Riordan said, “I can’t promise that you’ll never get hurt again, but I can promise you the risk is worth it.

Well, know that you know how to weigh your options you can pick your hard. Either you decide to stay where you are or decide to get ahead in life. But i strongly recommend you decide to give yourself that chance always, to find out how good things can really get. It’s a much better option.

And i promise, once you see how good things can get, you’ll never look back. Every time you meet with risk, you’ll see an opportunity to get better and you won’t ever want to deny yourself that chance.

Risks may make you win, or they will make you learn. Either of the benefits is worth daring for.

Israelmore Ayivor

If you decide to take that chance, here are a few words for you.

It seems to be a law of nature, inflexible and inexorable, that those who will not risk cannot win.   ~ John Paul Jones

Every risk is worth taking.

If you aren’t taking risks, you aren’t really living.

And if you desire to gain something worthwhile, be ready to take risks, that’s the only way your going to get there. Playing it safe never yields anything noteworthy.

Bear Grylls said,” If you risk nothing, you gain nothing.”

Steve Goran Erickson said, “The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure.”

Quit asking yourself what could happen if you fail, and remind yourself of everything that could happen if you succeed.

Once achieving your dream(s) is more important to you than your fear of failure, then your well on your way to success, welcome to the 1% club.

It’s not going to be easy, but if you think you can do it, then yes you can.

And one more thing,

It is better to risk starving to death than surrender. If you give up on your dreams, what’s left?

Jim Carrey

What’s a life lived without dreams, vision and purpose?

I agree it’s better to die trying to make your dreams come true than live a purposeless life. A purposeless life in itself will make you wish for your death.

Thou just because you have decided to take the risk doesn’t guarantee that you will succeed.

Sometimes you’ll win and sometimes you’ll learn. That’s just how life works, and the sooner you get used to it, the better.

Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.

~ Denis Waitley

If you aren’t willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.

~ Jim Rohn

Adena Friedman advised, “You can’t be successful in anything without taking risks. It’s that simple.”

In whatever undertaking you desire success, be ready to take the chance. Be ready to bet your life on your ideas. Be ready to put everything you can on the line to achieve them.

In simple terms, be ready to break a leg when it comes to your dreams. That’s usually the difference between those who succeed and those who don’t.

Take chances, make mistakes. That’s how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.

  ~ Mary Tyler Moore

David Lloyd George said it best, “Don’t be afraid to take a big step. You can’t cross a chasm in two small jumps.”

The greatest risk in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, has nothing, is nothing and becomes nothing. ~Norman Vincent Peale

In today’s rapidly changing world, the people who aren’t taking risk are the risk takers. ~ Robert T. Kiyosaki

One thing I love about taking risks is that it grows your faith. How would you ever grow if you play it safe?

If you don’t want it bad enough to risk going for it – you don’t really want it bad enough. Period.

Everything in life is a risk.

To love is to risk not being loved in return.

~ Leo Buscaglia

To work is to risk being fired, to exercise is to risk getting an injury, to give birth is to risk one’s life, there’s always going to be something you could possibly lose. And also something you could gain. Pick your hard wisely, for to risk nothing is to risk everything.

You might decide not to work because you fear getting fired and then what? How will you pay your bills? How will you live comfortably?

You could also take the chance on working and be able to pay your bills and live comfortably.

The coin always has two sides. Don’t let fear make you choose the wrong side. And playing it too safe may soon land you in trouble too, remember that.

If you come across temporary defeat, don’t give up. Embrace it, and keep in pursuit of whatever it is you started out to do in the first place.

I promise you, if you choose to take the high road, it sure does pay off.

John Stemmons makes me nod in agreement, “If your chances are slim and none, go with slim….”

And always remember, you’ll always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Being a precautions person might never take you anywhere.

Everyone has to take risks, to be successful. Be it to be an entrepreneur, to set up a business you can’t be sure everything will work out. You could get robbed, the enterprise could get burnt up, you could make losses you could even not get customers.

You just have to take that chance.

Elbert Hubbert advised, “The greatest mistake in life is to continue fearing you will make one.”

Let me leave you with the words of T.S Elliot ,”Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.”

Spread the love
