No matter how bad things look , be grateful. It could have been worse .

A famous all-time song goes , Count your many blessings name them one by one ……, Count your many blessings name them one by one, it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

Many a time in our lives we forget to give thanks for the many little blessings life has bestowed upon us . Sometimes we even feel we have nothing to be grateful for. BUT deep down we know that is a lie. There is so much to be grateful for from the last meal you had to the very air you breathe .

What does it mean to be grateful?

Grateful refers to the feeling of, or display of appreciation for something(s) received or done for you.

A grateful person is one who is full of gratitude for all life’s little and big blessings. Everyone loves to be around this kind of person. Be that kind of person.

Be grateful for everything.

There is an infinite number of things to be grateful for . Let’s just go through the list of some of them that are most obvious.

  • The fact that your still alive and breathing is something to give thanks for. That shows that God aint done with you yet.
  • Your family from your parents, siblings , spouse , kids just name them all .
  • The friends you have, not everyone has friends they can count on .
  • Proper functioning body parts and organs. The number of people in hospitals suffering from various complications is not small. Give thanks because you are all well .
  • The free air you breathe. So many people are in the hospital being oxygenated and paying for that oxygen expensively every single day.

Normalize a culture of gratitude. Let gratitude be your default mode at all times , because no matter how bad, ugly, terrifying things look and are, it could have been worse . You didn’t give the Almighty anything to have all the things you have now, even the very life you have . Be grateful for it .

Yes you could have a lot more, but you could also have less- BE GRAETEFUL.

Be grateful for the little things, for one day you will look back and realize they were big things.

Gratitude for all we have leads to abundance in all that we desire.

Rejoice for the things you have and even the things you don’t have will be added to you. If you can’t be grateful for small things you won’t be grateful for the big things when they come. If you’re not thankful for the things you have, how can the Universe be sure you will be thankful for what is coming.

A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles.

Gratitude is the great multiplier of life . Begin to think thanks , speak thanks, feel thanks for all the million little miracles life is offering you, and those miracles will multiply.

How to practice gratitude when depressed

It’s easy to be grateful when life is all rosy . The real test of gratitude comes when your in hardship. During those trials , dark moments and trying times. Just remember that complaining, grumbling and worrying will not help your situation , they will only make it worse.

Instead learn to smile in hardship and know that whatever it is, it will come to pass for nothing is permanent. Having faith in your heart will carry you through the darkest days of your life , and before you know it, it will all be over.

Putting aside time to practice gratitude may be one of the best decisions you make your entire life and i guarantee you it will yield results.

When life is sweet say THANK YOU AND CELEBRATE. When life is bitter say THANK YOU AND GROW .

Gratitude is the way to bring more into your life. be grateful.
If you must be a receiver, be a grateful one.

Even in daily life, learn to appreciate people. A thank you from you will surely cheer someone up, might make someone’s day and even make them do more nice things for you . Things they wouldn’t have done otherwise.

William James said, ” The deepest craving of human nature is the need to be appreciated . “

Give them that and you can get them to do anything for you.

Don’t take people for granted, whether it be your employees, friends, parents, children, boss, religious leader, anyone. Be grateful for their little and big efforts and they will surprise you with how much more they are will be willing to do for you.

Gratitude will make people give you things you would have never received and make them do things they wouldn’t have normally done . TRY IT , IT WORKS.

And remember the saying, ” What goes round, comes round.” Give thanks and more thanks will come back to you.

Everyone loves to be around a grateful person for the warmth they bring to the heart. Those two words THANK YOU are so much more than they look and sound.

Remember the sinner at the cross who stole heaven just by expressing his gratitude to the Lord? Even the Lord loves a grateful heart. I can’t tell you how far gratitude will take you but i can assure you it will typically blow your mind. Just try it for yourself.

A few things are worse than living with an ungrateful person, i promise.

Having known the magic gratitude can bring in your life , make it a habit to practice gratitude daily. Reflect and feel gratitude with all your heart for all the blessings past and present because you surely have a lot of them .

HOW TO PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Gratitude and ingratitude are both options ; make it your choice to be grateful daily. Live life with gratitude every single day. This world has some much to offer beautiful mountains, oceans, plains, rivers, animals , food , breath-taking sceneries ,flowers , sunrises and sunsets , i can’t name them all . All life requires is us , humanity to be grateful for all we have been given. Replete it all with nothing thankfulness .

If we can’t see all we have to be thankful for, the fault lies only in ourselves .

And i promise you when you start counting your blessings, you will watch your life turn around in happy disbelief .

Gratitude is just like bathing. It’s not a one time thing. You need to practice it daily until you get the results you desire and even after that to continue to better yourself.

Here are a few tips to help get you started on your journey to an abundant life through harnessing the power of gratitude;

  • Set a specific time to practice gratitude for all you have received in your life.
  • Get into a comfortable position and relax.
  • Write down the things you are grateful for ( preferably in a journal )
  • Keep a journal to help you keep track of all the things you are grateful for ( both those you have received and those you desire to receive too .)
  • If you are having hard time coming up with different things to be grateful for everyday try reading and making use of the MAGIC BOOK by Rhonda Byrne. It has some really great ideas and a 30 day plan.

Even when your depressed, remember to give gratitude, it could have been worse.

Remember that that too shall pass . Also try doing the things you love, they will help lift your mood and show you how much you can still be grateful for .

If you can do this for 3 weeks, you can do it for the rest of your life.
